“THINSKIN ARMOR SYSTEM”

Challenge:
Stop 55gr. Winchester 5.56 bullet shot from a M16 with a 20” barrel. The bullet  travels at approx. 3200fps at the muzzle.  Stop multi hit .308 and everything in between.

The bullet “proofness” of any metal is totally dependant on what is being shot at it. Steel by itself comes in many hardness ratings. For example the following steels are about equal as far as the bullet proof factor against a 7.62x39 round (standard AK47).
3/16" depleated uranium
1/4" laser-cut, 500 Brinell steel
5/16" torch cut, 500 Brinell steel {all very heavy}
3/8" high carbon steel
7/16" low carbon steel
1/2" tempered aluminum

A 6"x6" plate of any one of the above is about $100-$200… “in country” it’s more… so you can see that it gets expensive quick. Again this is against a bi-metal jacket russian round.  If you start talking 5.56 rounds, all bets are off. As an example an M855 or ss109 round will punch a hole in any one of the plates. A round classified as M955 OR M855A1 would go through any two plates back to back and a depleted uranium round would go through any three plates.

NOT SO WITH “THINSKIN”.
